Rally Point

We will meet at the McDonald’s at 13500 Russell Rd A, Quantico, VA 22134. This is the McDonald’s located on base, at the rear gate next to the Exchange. Please remember to bring appropriate identification to get on base (you driver’s license is acceptable, other forms of government ID may also be). We will go from there to Daly Hall - 2079 Barnett Avenue and take the shuttles down to the race course. (Maps at the bottom).

We will meet at 0700. The shuttles start running at 0730.

Mission

Our primary mission is eyes on the course to provide safety and back up the Marine Corps Marathon personnel. In the event of a downed runner, contact OSV immediately. There will be an ambulance on site for the duration of the event under the command of Top Doc.

Equipment

An HT will be suitable for this event. Since we cannot drive to our locations, any equipment we carry will have to be portable. If you have a headset and boom mic, you may want to use them as well. A headset and boom are mandatory for the OSV. It will be noisy enough in there.

The weather for this event is predicted to be cold. A low of 26, and a high of 37. Partly cloudy and a 10% of precipitation. Dress appropriatly for the weather. We do not want to end up in an aid station.

Operational Parameters

We will be operating simplex at 147.525, the normal ARES operational frequency. All stations should be close enough to hear each other.

Any questions asked by the public or the media, are to be directed to the Race Officials. We will have our PIO, Tom Fournier, W4PIO on site if anyone has questions about Amateur Radio specifically.
